The Window closed for the June #6×6

Posted on Updated on

The submissions window for the June 6×6 is now closed.
We have  a lot of wonderful pieces – many with books to promote which is excellent news.  Now begins the task of selecting our final 6 from the many. The final list will hopefully be posted by end of this week.

Reading for writers

Posted on Updated on

Many good pieces coming into the 6X6 folders – with the weekend still to go – and really looking forward to reading them all when the window closes.

But…  A special request.

Please read the guidelines – especially the part about file names!

You should have your name and story title on the submission file,  in the body of the story and also on the email.

This may seem like overkill  but when the files are saved and shared for reading they can and do become seperated  – as happened today. By luck we were able to trace it back – but please! Label that file from all angles to ensure safe delivery. We would hate to miss out on a star story because  we don’t know who wrote it.

Keep those entries rolling in!

Tips For 6×6 Writers

Posted on

Once again we heard a superb selection of fiction at our last event. The bar is raising by the season and selecting just six submissions from the many received is getting tougher every time.

We are often asked what the criteria is for being selected for 6×6 and whilst it may seem blindingly obvious, the best advice we can offer is the usual mantra for submitting material to any market or event: ‘read the guidelines.’

Our Guidelines to be found HERE

The single biggest reason for being overlooked – after quality of writing, obviously – is in that crucial time slot.  6×6 means just what it says – Six minute slots for six writers. So practise reading aloud at a good steady pace and time it for yourself before submitting it.

The next 6×6 is in 12th June. The submission window  for that opens in 1st April and ends 25th May, so get writing!
